Re:              IAAIS 2009 Awards

The procedures/guidelines and entry forms for the 2009 Awards Program are attached.   Please read them carefully including the program and production categories.

The 2009 Awards Program has 2 entry types:  Program Awards and Public Awareness Award.

When selecting your best programs for entry, remember that they must have aired in 2009 and there is a limit of one entry per station in each program/production category.  Make sure you choose the correct production and program category for each entry. Program entries may be submitted on CDs or audio cassettes.  Each entry must be on a separate CD/tape.   Please double-check your media for sound before sending.

A public awareness project must have ended in 2009.

Deadline for receiving all entries is Friday January 23rd, 2010.

Four copies of each entry and the entry form should be sent by mail to:

Lori Kesinger, Program Manager

The Kansas Audio-Reader Network

1120 West 11th Street

Lawrence, KS  66044

Contact me by phone (416-422-4222, extension 224) or  by email (hlusignan@nbrscanada.com) with any questions.  An electronic version of this information package will be available on the IAAIS website.

INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION

OF AUDIO INFORMATION SERVICES

2009 Public Awareness Award

Objective: To recognize achievement in the planning and implementation of public relations or other projects designed to promote your organization to the public.

Background: All audio information services have need of optimum public awareness. Without general community awareness of the services availability to print-disabled people and the need for community support, the service will be less effective than it could be. The Public Awareness Award encourages individual audio information services to increase public exposure so as to facilitate audience growth, more effective volunteer recruitment, and increased financial support within the community.

The Public Awareness Award is designed to recognize leadership and accomplishment in this important area of audio service outreach. It is hoped that other services will benefit from becoming aware of the experience gained and the successes of award winning projects.

Submissions for the Public Awareness Award must include three sets of the promotional materials used in the project. Materials may be printed, recorded, photographic, or brailled.
