Public Affairs Award for Excellence in Communication & Marketing

Awarded to Sun Sound of Arizona for their work in making the Arizona Clean Election and Secretary of State Voting Guides accessible to individuals with print-disabilities. Sun Sounds converted a broad selection of materials into audio format so that listeners had the opportunity to hear the voting guides to help them make an informed decision. Materials were recorded and put into a dial-in phone tree system, empowering listeners to practice their civic right in making an informed choice in the 2024 election.

C. Stanley Potter Lifetime Achievement Award

Mike Duke

Radio Reading Service of Mississippi

Mike Duke was honored with the C. Stanley Potter Lifetime Achievement Award for more than 35 years of service as a leader in the industry in Mississippi, through the IAAIS network, and the American Council for the Blind.

The C Stanley Potter award is IAAIS' highest honor. Named after the inventor and biggest champion of radio reading services, this award recognizes a person who has made a significant and lasting impact on our industry. Mike Duke certainly has.

Duke attended the Mississippi and earned a degree in communications from Mississippi State University. He used his golden pipes as a commercial radio announcer for 12 years.

In 1988, he took the helm as director of the Radio Reading Service of Mississippi and has been leading that organization for 37 years. Throughout the years, his impact has been felt beyond the borders of Mississippi with his service on the IAAIS Board, recording audio for pretty much every conference and multiple special projects for the IAAIS.

Congratulations to our 2024 Award Winners!
